Oh Dear. And Help!
We have noticed that the increasing practice of file-sharing is significantly reducing sales of our recorded work. While we believe that good music SHOULD be heard by as many people as possible* we fear that there's a time coming in the not-too-distant future when we might HAVE to compromise the time and care we put into our work if we are to remain in business. Compromise isn't one of our stronger areas (understatement - you can probably hear the screams from there..) so we're worried. Worse still - more widespread "nicking" of our music could mean that we become completely unable to function as a band at all. Scary, eh? Hopefully it won't come to that, and we're always thinking of new ways to make this thing work in the modern world but, nonetheless, file-sharing has definitely started to drain our income/resources. So we're making a very important request to you:
Please do not upload any of our music or videos to any file-sharing networks, newsgroups, or 'public' websites such as YouTube or MySpace, and don't share your Marillion music via peer-to-peer software such as Limewire and Bit Torrent.
Our music costs a lot of money to make, and by buying our CDs, DVDs and merchandise direct from us you're ensuring that we can continue to make music in the years to come. If you upload our music to file-sharing networks, giving it away for free, you're jeopardising our very future.
*If you want other people to hear our music, just ask them to come to this website where they can download a 'Crash Course' sampler, with our compliments, for F R E E. Otherwise purchase an album or DVD. It really does make a difference. Thanks for buying our music, and thanks for understanding!
