The Overlap is Mr. So & So’s third album, produced by Mike Stobbie and featuring Steve Rothery. Recorded at no less than four recording studios over a year (including the Racket Club), the albums eight tracks showcase the bands ability to write complex songs but still maintain a songs ‘hook’ and leave you whistling the songs back, as well as allowing themselves space to express themselves instrumentally.
The Overlap was originally released in 1998 on Steve Rothery’s Dorian label, two years later Mr. So & So disbanded. In 2007 following the reformation of the band, The Overlap has been re-released

Mr. So & So have been around since 1989, formed by Dave Foster (guitar) and Shaun McGowan (vocals and bass) at music college, joining them from the same college, Kieren Twist (keyboards), Leon Parr (drums) and Charlotte Evans (vocals). Citing an odd blend of Led Zeppelin, Jellyfish, Faith No More, The Beatles and Soundgarden as influences, the bands sound developed into something quite unique.
The early 1990’s saw the release of “Paraphernalia” and “Compendium”, the latter being the album that led to Steve Rothery Signing them to his label Dorian Music. In 1997 the band toured with Marillion on the ‘Strange Engine Tour’, becoming a popular choice with Marillion fans.
In 2000 the band broke up, but by chance Dave and Shaun met up, culminating in the re-appearance of Mr. So & So along with Charlotte, they are joined by Anthony Hindley (keyboards) and Stuart Browne (drums)
